The project descritption

The website you are just reading contains information on quarries of decorative stones, sandpits and limestone quarries (for pure limestones suitable for lime production) and mineral resources from these quarries obtained from 2011 to 2015. In almost all described extraction areas, quarrying was carried out in the period above; in rare cases, mining was in the process of preparation. You can find here contact data of quarry operators, localization of the quarries, properties of quarried materials, description and photo documentation of their appearance, and a lot of other information obtained in the course of implementing the project “Raw materials sources for renewal of cultural heritage“, Ref. No. DF11P01OVV005. The project was supported through the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic under the NAKI programme (Programme for applied research and development for national and cultural identity) and was carried out in cooperation with the Research Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. The objective of this project was to identify, map and characterize national key sources of raw mineral resources applicable for the renewal of cultural heritage, especially immovable monuments. The website is therefore primarily intended for the personnel of the National Heritage Institute, conservators and other experts in the field of restoration of monuments. We believe that the website will also be useful for experts in related fields and for the public.
