Tests
The presented results of tests and analyses of mineral resources can be assessed only with knowledge of factors they could have been affected by. For natural materials, these factors include especially the selection (sampling) of the tested sample, but also the methods chosen for testing, and experience of the personnel performing the tests or analyses. Special attention was paid to accuracy and trustworthiness of the presented data, and therefore the tests were usually performed using verified methods according to relevant ČSN standards at departments experienced in the use of applied methods. Where no method described directly by ČSN was available, the testing procedure was thoroughly verified. The test results were also compared with experience of quarry operators or with literary sources.
The method of testing limestone quality performed in several steps should be described in details. In particular, the limestone (predominantly calcium carbonate) itself is tested. Where, however, limestone is exploited burnt (at optimum temperature), the tested substance is lime, (calcium oxide), and, after hydration, tests of slaked lime and of normalized mortar containing that lime follow.
We hope that a brief description of individual tests can be useful in understanding the meaning of the presented results and in their proper interpretation.
