Stones, sandpits and limestone quarries in the Czech Republic

There are three quarries in Mokrá – eastern, western and central. The eastern quarry is a smaller one-storey quarry which quarries slate as a corrective additive for cement. The central quarry is a large five-storey quarry for slate and particularly lower-quality limestone for the manufacture of cement. The extensive five-storey western quarry contains the best quality limestone, some of which is used for the manufacture of lime and hydrated lime in the nearby processing plants. The large quarry complex lies in the Mokrá woods to the north by the road between the villages of Mokrá and Hostěnice.
