Description

The Bratčice quarry is located 10 km south from Brno and is easily accessible via the R52 express way by taking the left exit 16 (Hrušovany) to class III road No. 39528 leading towards the quarry. The Bratčice deposit covers an area of about 5 km2 in the cadastral areas of Bratčice, Němčičky, Sobotovice, Medlov and Ledce. It is mostly flat with shallow, long depressions. The altitude of the terrain ranges between 220-232 metres above sea level.
The quarry has been owned by Pískovny Morava, spol. s r.o. since 2011. It offers washed sand, as well as 0.2 mm fraction. It is a large single-storey quarry. The mining is carried out in a wall at a height of 13-18 metres – after exemption by the Mining Authority.
