Description:
The quartzose sandstone is fine up to medium grained, and of very light ivory colour (Figure 1). It is partially coloured by ferrous pigments in light (see Figure 2) up to rich shades of yellow, orange up to reddish-brown (see Figures 3 and 4). It rarely contains bands of grey up to greyish-black, as is clearly visible in the left sample in Figure 4.
