Havlovice sandstone is Triassic fine grained, of highly variable appearance ranging from typical light, creme colour (Figures 1 to 5) to rich coloured sandstone with ferrous pigments of various shades of ochre, orange and red. This pigmentation may be relatively homogenous, but usually appears in layers (see Figures 2 to 4). The surface structure of the stone after breaking off from plates is also highly variable. The surface is usually castellated, rippled, granular, etc.
