Vahlovice granite is typically medium grained and grey (blue) – see Figures 1 and 2. The stone contains numerous light veins up to 10 cm thick, as shown in Figure 3. Locally it also contains dark basic cots, see Figure 4. At fractures the granite contains narrow red bands, probably caused by later enrichment from sodium feldspars (ablation), as is documented in Figure 5. Figure 6 shows a polished surface of Vahlovice granite.
