Stones, sandpits and limestone quarries in the Czech Republic

This two-storey sand quarry lies some 400 m to the north of the road connecting Kostelecké Horky and the village of Smetana. The access route to the quarry also leads up from this road. The raw material is quarried from the face by loaders and is further treated on site. The sand quarry has a washer and a sorter and produces washed and sorted sand in fraction sizes of 0-2, 0-4, 0-8, 0-16, 0-32, and 0-63 mm, and dredged sand is sorted into fractions of 0-2, 0-4, 2-4, 4-8, 8-16, and 16-32 mm. Dredged sand was also tested at a fraction of 0-4 mm.
