Description
Třeboc opoka quarry is situated on the western slope of Džbán hill, in the forest between the villages of Lhota pod Džbánem, Mutějovice and Hředle. It is best accessed via the forest track running east from the road connecting Mutějovice with Lhota pod Džbánem. The quarry is a fairly large one, although stone is now only quarried in the western part, broken off from the face by excavators. Opoka quarrying was restarted in 2014, so far towards the top of the quarry face where the rocks are relatively weathered. However, opoka blocks weighing several tons were quarried here in the past.
