Description
The Radim single-storey mine lies approx. 2.5 km to the southeast of Budišov nad Budišovkou. It is accessible from the road connecting this village with Staré Oldřůvky via a turn-off leading through the valley along the left bank of the Budišovka brook. The stone is quarried approx. 150 m from the mouth of a corridor some 1.2 km long, without using explosives, by cutting the slate with a circular saw and then breaking off smaller blocks of stone. The stone is transported to the surface where it is then cut using a circular saw, chipped manually or crushed, to make overshot, tiles, building stone, mostly for garden architecture, chipped formatted slate and slate chippings.
