Stones, sandpits and limestone quarries in the Czech Republic

This small sand quarry of Skviřín is situated near the crossroad of road No. 605 leading from Skviřín to Bor and road No. 200, which leads from Boječnice. An access road to the quarry turns from road No. 200. The sand is mined from a wall with a thickness of 4.5 m by an excavator. The mined sand contains a large share of wash-out material and is therefore first washed and then sorted. Regulation of the washing intensity yields mortar and concrete sand with fraction of 0-4 mm.
